The Senior PI Administrator serves as the subject matter expert for OT systems, focusing on the AVEVA PI System and its associated data integrations. This role involves configuring and maintaining data collection from SCADA systems, DCSs, RTUs, and PLCs into the AVEVA PI System. Key responsibilities include administering PI Data Archive, PI Collectives, PI Asset Framework, Interfaces, Connectors, Adapters, AVEVA Connect, PI Web API, and PI Vision. The position requires developing automation for system maintenance and custom telemetry feeds using Python, PowerShell, and .NET. The administrator will also manage infrastructure upgrades, troubleshoot TCP/IP networking issues, and support Operations Engineering by maintaining real-time data collection infrastructure. This role solves technical problems regarding platform reliability, data availability, and scalable workarounds for complex industrial automation systems.
Act as the subject matter expert for OT systems, specifically the AVEVA PI System and its data integrations.
Configure and maintain data collection from SCADA systems, DCSs, RTUs, and PLCs into the AVEVA PI System.
Administer and support PI components including Data Archive, Asset Framework, Interfaces, Connectors, and PI Vision.
Develop automation for system maintenance and custom telemetry feeds using Python, PowerShell, and .NET.
Lead investigations and resolutions for complex PI System issues affecting performance, reliability, and data availability.
Coordinate with IT stakeholders to implement infrastructure upgrades, patching, and maintenance activities.
Lead onboarding activities for new project startups, including point definition and system configuration.
Maintain technical documentation for all implemented solutions and integrations.
What we're looking for
Five or more years of experience administering enterprise-scale AVEVA PI environments including Data Archives, PI Collectives, Asset Framework, Interfaces, Connectors, Adapters, AVEVA Connect, PI Web API, and PI Vision.
Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts, including identifying and troubleshooting communication issues.
Proficiency with programming and scripting languages such as .NET, PowerShell, and Python.
Experience administering PI Collectives and highly available PI System environments (preferred).
Experience with AVEVA Connect (preferred).
Experience with relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL (preferred).
Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) such as Emerson DeltaV or Emerson Ovation (preferred).
Experience with industrial communication protocols such as DNP3, Modbus, and OPC (preferred).
