As a Senior Reliability Engineer, you will ensure the resilience and availability of systems and applications by collaborating closely with development teams. You will drive error budget and Service Level Objective adoption, conduct risk assessments, and implement robust monitoring and failover mechanisms. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing root cause analysis, identifying repeated toil for automation, and using chaos engineering to proactively identify failures. You will utilize programming languages like Java, Python, Go, or Node.js alongside cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure. Technical requirements include knowledge of IBM Mainframe, containerization via Docker or Kubernetes, and monitoring tools like Grafana and Prometheus. You will solve complex problems regarding system behavior, capacity planning, and multi-region application troubleshooting to enhance overall operational excellence.
Drive error budget and Service Level Objective (SLO) adoption across all products.
Lead incident response efforts and perform root cause analysis to implement preventative measures.
Implement robust monitoring, observability, and failover mechanisms across product teams.
Identify repeated toil and develop automation to reduce operational risk.
Conduct chaos engineering experiments to proactively identify failures and system edge cases.
Advise on capacity planning and provide continuous assessments on system behavior and consumption.
Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to production incidents and conduct blameless retrospectives.
Mentor and assist engineers on the team to improve technical skills and reliability practices.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science, or a related field.
4+ years of experience in software development.
Strong programming skills in one or more languages including Java, Python, Go, or Node.js.
In-depth knowledge of systems architecture, operating system internals, network fundamentals, and application design patterns.
Experience with multi-region application troubleshooting, performance tuning, and one cloud platform (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
Working experience on IBM Mainframe including TSO/ISPF, JCL, Batch job scheduling, CICS, and RACF.
Working experience with monitoring techniques and tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
In-depth knowledge of containerization and orchestration (preferred); experience with configuration management systems (preferred); experience with Elixir (preferred); experience with AI/ML methodologies (preferred); experience writing Infrastructure as Code (preferred).
