As a Senior Project Manager, Manufacturing Development, Space, you will join the Manufacturing Development team to implement the Manufacturing Development Process (MDP) framework across multiple product lines. You will manage the rollout of this comprehensive framework for complex space vehicles, ensuring production readiness is achieved early in the lifecycle. Your daily responsibilities include creating and maintaining Integrated Master Schedules, facilitating phase gate evaluations, tracking manufacturing risks, and coordinating between cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality. The role requires a blend of business acumen and technical expertise in spacecraft manufacturing and vehicle integration. You will utilize concurrent engineering principles to guide products from prototype through low rate production. Key competencies include project management, change management, and the ability to communicate complex technical information to diverse stakeholders while navigating the intricacies of space vehicle assembly and testing.
Implement the Manufacturing Development Process (MDP) framework across multiple product lines and manufacturing engineering teams.
Create and maintain an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for 5-7 product lines focusing on spacecraft assembly and testing.
Communicate manufacturing readiness and risk levels to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Identify, track, and escalate manufacturing risks while developing corresponding risk buydown plans.
Facilitate phase gate evaluations and shape presentation content for cross-functional review.
Guide teams through the transition from prototype development to full-rate production in various facilities.
Develop and deploy business processes, templates, and best practices across global engineering teams.
What we're looking for
Must have 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, operations, design engineering, consulting, change management, project/program management, or engineering transformation.
Must have 8+ years of overall experience in relevant domains.
Must have a background in spacecraft manufacturing or space vehicle integration.
Must possess an understanding of the product lifecycle and its importance for manufacturing readiness.
Must demonstrate strong business acumen combined with knowledge of design engineering and manufacturing domains.
Must be able to collaborate with and influence stakeholders across all levels and disciplines.
Must be a process thinker with a business impact mindset and ability to think strategically.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
