TL;DR · Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Space Vehicle Integration

Lead Manufacturing Engineer, Space Vehicle Integration joins the Space Manufacturing team to serve as a technical leader overseeing manufacturing strategy and execution for complex spacecraft hardware. This role involves owning vehicle-level build flows, developing integration processes like precision fastening and harness routing, and managing post-environmental close-out stations. The engineer will drive Design for Manufacturability, manage tooling design in CAD, and oversee supplier quality standards to ensure high-reliability hardware meets strict requirements. Key responsibilities include mentoring engineers, implementing the Manufacturing Development Process, and maintaining production data within Foundry and Teamcenter systems. The role requires expertise in cleanroom manufacturing, metrology-defined datums, and space workmanship standards such as NASA-STD-8739 or IPC-620. This position addresses the technical challenge of scaling spacecraft assembly from prototype to high-rate production while ensuring rigorous quality and reliability for flight hardware.

What you'll do

  • Define assembly sequences, station content, takt times, and work instructions for production vehicle lines.
  • Optimize post-environmental close-out stations to improve throughput and speed up shipment preparation.
  • Develop and qualify integration processes including precision fastening, harness routing, and metrology alignment.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DfM) during the design phase to ensure ease of assembly and testability.
  • Manage manufacturing readiness artifacts such as producibility assessments and tooling plans aligned with design milestones.
  • Utilize Foundry and Teamcenter as the primary systems of record for build definitions and production data.
  • Design and deploy mechanical ground support equipment, including lift fixtures and alignment tooling.
  • Oversee vendor quality by defining workmanship standards and monitoring manufacturing best practices at external sites.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace, space, defense, or high-reliability industries.
  • 4+ years of experience in final assembly and integration of complex electromechanical systems or spacecraft.
  • Proven experience owning the build flow for at least one vehicle-level or major-assembly integration line.
  • Hands-on expertise in mechanical integration including precision fastening, harness routing, and metrology-defined alignment.
  • Experience with weight and balance verification and cleanroom manufacturing (ISO 7 or cleaner).
  • Proficiency with manufacturing execution systems and PLM tools such as Teamcenter or Palantir Foundry.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
