Senior Principal Software Engineer

What you'll do

• Build and deliver a high-performance key-value store supporting billions of keys and millions of requests per second.
• Design and develop new major data-plane components for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
• Provide strategic technical guidance to senior leadership to influence organization-wide goals and alignment.
• Perform hands-on software development, including designing, developing, and debugging low-level systems in C++, C++, or Rust.
• Create architectural documentation and lead engineering peer reviews for large-scale cloud projects.
• Mentor junior team members and provide direct guidance to align engineers with shared objectives.
• Automate and instrument services to improve developer experience and operational excellence.
• Define and evolve standard practices, procedures, and cross-team processes for the engineering organization.

What we're looking for

• Must have 10+ years of relevant engineering, architecture, or development/operational experience.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ and willingness to work with Rust.
• Extensive experience in high-concurrency systems and low-level, performance-critical system design.
• Experience with distributed storage, Write-Ahead Logging (WAL), indexing strategies, and consensus protocols like Raft or Paxos.
• Expert knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and technologies.
• Proven ability to provide strategic technical guidance to senior leadership and mentor junior team members.
• Demonstrated experience in startup environments or fast-paced enterprise technology development.
