What you'll do

Own the north star architecture for the cloud platform, CI/CD, and SRE systems with a multi-year outlook.
Establish design principles and standards that allow engineering teams to make independent, sound technical decisions.
Identify and resolve platform limitations and technical problems that lack clear ownership across different teams.
Drive consensus on technical direction and standards across Platform, SRE, Security, and product engineering teams.
Enforce reliability standards by integrating them into the automated deployment pipeline and production validation gating.
Guide design reviews to ensure delivered systems match agreed-upon architectures and meet reliability targets.
Evaluate industry trends to decide which emerging technologies Nordstrom should adopt, delay, or skip.
Act as a technical decision maker during significant incidents and convert lessons learned into platform defaults.

What we're looking for

15+ years of professional software or infrastructure engineering experience.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Deep hands-on architectural experience with large-scale cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and multi-account cloud estates.
Demonstrated depth in enterprise-scale continuous delivery, including canary analysis, immutable artifacts, and rollback design.
Experience with software supply chain security, including build provenance, artifact signing, and policy enforcement.
Track record of establishing SRE practices, including SLOs, error budgets, observability standards, and incident command.
Architectural experience with resilience patterns, such as cell-based architecture and multi-region active/active trade-offs.
Experience engineering for large, predictable traffic peaks in retail or e-commerce environments.
