Senior Power Electronics Engineer, Amazon Leo Power Team
As a Senior Power Electronics Engineer on the Amazon Leo Power Team, you will design power converters for low Earth orbit satellites. You will own the end-to-end development of custom DC-DC converters, including topology selection, magnetics design, control loop compensation, and prototype validation from simulation to orbit. Your daily work involves leading architecture trades regarding efficiency, mass, thermal, and reliability while ensuring EMI/EMC compliance. You will define power specifications, mentor other engineers, and collaborate with mechanical and systems teams to solve complex hardware problems. The role requires expertise in isolated and non-isolated converter topologies, custom magnetics, and simulation tools like LTspice or PLECS. You will apply deep knowledge of Si, SiC, and GaN semiconductor tradeoffs to develop high-reliability power systems for the satellite constellation's critical infrastructure.
