Senior Manager of Software Engineering, Observability

What you'll do

• Lead the strategic roadmap to transition the organization to an integrated, OpenTelemetry-native telemetry ecosystem.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of Senior and Staff Observability Engineers.
• Drive observability requirements and instrumentation standards for workloads migrating from on-premises datacenters to GCP.
• Implement Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to improve detection and resolution times.
• Manage vendor relationships, enterprise licensing, and cloud telemetry spend to optimize data ingestion costs.
• Establish Observability-as-Code standards using repository-led management to automate pipelines and dashboards.
• Partner with security teams to ensure all telemetry pipelines and audit logs adhere to regulatory compliance standards.
• Forecast infrastructure and storage needs for high-cardinality telemetry data and manage departmental resource allocation.

What we're looking for

• Must have at least 7 years of experience in cloud/hybrid datacenter operations, platform engineering, or enterprise software development.
• Must have at least 4 years of direct people management experience leading engineering teams and driving organizational strategy.
• Must have a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Observability.
• Must be able to work remotely within the United States, excluding California.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering (preferred).
• Relevant cloud certifications such as Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud Architect or Associate Cloud Engineer (preferred).
• Proficiency in modern delivery tooling such as ArgoCD, GitOps, Terraform, and Ansible (preferred).
• Hands-on leadership experience with enterprise observability tools like OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, Datadog, or Dynatrace (preferred).
