As a Senior Manager Customer Debug Engineering within the Platform Field Engineering team of the Data Center Platform Engineering Group, you will lead a team of customer-facing debug engineers. You will oversee server- and rack-level hardware and firmware debug during customer bring-up, early deployment, and ODM factory builds. Your daily responsibilities include driving issues to root cause, managing complex technical escalations, and providing decision-oriented status updates to internal and external leadership. You will utilize deep expertise in pre- and post-silicon debug across CPU, GPU, FPGA, memory, connectivity, RAS, and hotplug systems. The role requires navigating hardware bring-up, validation, and manufacturing flows, specifically addressing technical challenges in data center, GPU, cloud, and HPC environments while ensuring platform readiness and deployment schedules are met.
Build, lead, and mentor a team of customer-facing debug engineers for server and rack-level hardware and firmware.
Lead debug for platform bring-up, fleet anomalies, and early field failures at customer sites to identify root causes.
Serve as the senior escalation point for complex debug issues, owning the customer-facing narrative through to closure.
Provide decision-oriented status updates and debug prioritization to both internal and external leadership.
Support hardware and firmware failure triage during ODM factory builds and EVT/DVT/PVT gates.
Coordinate debug efforts across design, validation, firmware, and FA teams to align with deployment schedules.
Manage scarce hardware resources to prioritize competing customer escalations and maximize debug coverage.
Partner with customers and ODM teams to advise on AMD tools, debug methodologies, and technical documentation.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Master's degree in a related technical field (preferred).
Recent years of experience managing customer-facing technical or engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and mentoring (preferred).
Deep hands-on experience with server- and rack-level hardware and firmware debug, including pre- and post-silicon debug (preferred).
Strong familiarity with hardware bring-up, validation, manufacturing, and test flows from concept through volume production (preferred).
Proven ability to drive execution across global, cross-functional teams and influence without direct authority (preferred).
Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale deployments and managing debug or quality programs across hyperscale, OEM, and enterprise segments (preferred).
Working knowledge of reliability and quality metrics such as yield, DPM, and FIT (preferred).
