Senior Mainframe Capacity and Performance Engineer

What you'll do

• Monitor and analyze enterprise mainframe resource utilization across IBM z/OS environments.
• Conduct capacity planning, forecasting, and trend analysis to ensure platform scalability and reliability.
• Perform real-time performance diagnostics to identify bottlenecks and mitigate risks.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify high-resource consumers and implement optimization strategies.
• Drive MIPS reduction initiatives to improve infrastructure efficiency and control operational costs.
• Develop utilization reports and performance assessments to support infrastructure investments and technology upgrades.
• Provide technical leadership for performance testing, quality assurance, and critical incident response.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide real-time support during production incidents and high-volume events.

What we're looking for

• 5+ years supporting enterprise IBM mainframe environments, including z/OS and IBM Z architecture.
• 5+ years in capacity planning, performance engineering, root cause analysis, and production troubleshooting within large-scale environments.
• 3+ years analyzing utilization trends, forecasting capacity needs, and driving workload optimization initiatives.
• 3+ years leveraging enterprise mainframe monitoring and performance management tools to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
• 2+ years utilizing Microsoft Office applications, including advanced Excel reporting and data analysis.
• Experience supporting and tuning critical mainframe subsystems, including DB2, CICS, and/or MQ (preferred).
• Proficiency with performance and capacity management tools such as OMEGAMON, RMF III, SAS, and MXG (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
