What you'll do

Design, develop, and test complex tactical and strategic technical solutions across multiple technologies.
Develop complex algorithms to solve specific business needs.
Investigate and resolve complex application issues and production problems through end-to-end troubleshooting.
Lead code and design reviews while communicating updates to stakeholders for accurate planning.
Mentor and coach engineers on system design, development, and maintenance.
Identify and optimize system performance issues and technical debt.
Manage risks associated with business activities in accordance with compliance policies.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including daily standups, sprint planning, and backlog refinement.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
6+ years of software development experience including at least 3 years in an IBM mainframe environment.
4+ years of experience delivering technology solutions across all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
Advanced proficiency in PL/I programming, including code enhancements, debugging, performance tuning, and production support.
Expertise in Job Control Language (JCL) for writing, modifying, troubleshooting, scheduling, and optimizing batch processes.
Demonstrated experience with IMS zOS performance tuning and IBM IMS Database (IMS DB).
Experience using monitoring and observability tools like Elastic to analyze performance and investigate issues.
Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
Experience with IBM MQ (preferred).
Experience with REST API/web services on mainframe (z/OS Connect) (preferred).
Experience with Mainframe schedulers such as Control-M (preferred).
Familiarity with COBOL (preferred).
Experience modernizing legacy mainframe applications or integrating systems with distributed/cloud platforms (preferred).
Experience supporting IBM DataStage jobs within a Mainframe environment (preferred).
Financial services, insurance, banking, or other highly regulated industry experience (preferred).
Experience mentoring junior developers and providing technical leadership (preferred).
US military experience through service or as a military spouse/domestic partner (preferred).
