Senior Mainframe Developer, IMS Database & zOS

What you'll do

• Design, develop, code, and test complex tactical and strategic technical solutions across multiple technologies.
• Develop complex algorithms to solve specific business needs.
• Lead code and design reviews while communicating updates to stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
• Investigate and resolve complex application and system technical problems by directing end-to-end troubleshooting.
• Mentor engineers on design, development, and maintenance of systems while reviewing teammates' code.
• Identify system performance issues and technical debt to optimize overall solutions.
• Monitor and control risks associated with business activities in accordance with compliance policies.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for incidents and escalations every 5-6 weeks.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree or 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
• 6+ years of software development experience including at least 3 years in an IBM mainframe environment.
• 4+ years of experience delivering technology solutions across all phases of the software systems and application development lifecycle.
• Advanced proficiency in PL/I programming, including code enhancements, debugging, performance tuning, and production support.
• Expertise in Job Control Language (JCL) for writing, modifying, troubleshooting, scheduling, and optimizing batch processes.
• Demonstrated experience with IMS zOS performance tuning and IBM IMS Database (IMS DB).
• Experience using monitoring and observability tools like Elastic and working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience with IBM MQ, REST API/web services on mainframe, Control-M, COBOL, or modernizing legacy systems (preferred).
