Senior Low Observables Technician

What you'll do

• Prepare and apply radar-absorbing materials (RAM), low observable coatings, and aerospace primers to metallic and composite structures.
• Perform surface preparation including solvent cleaning, hand abrasion, media blasting, and masking on airframe components.
• Mix multi-component coating systems while tracking pot life and verifying viscosity per process specifications.
• Apply coatings using HVLP spray, airless spray, trowel, squeegee, and brush methods to meet thickness and performance requirements.
• Conduct in-process quality checks including wet/dry film thickness, surface profile, adhesion testing, and visual inspections.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment such as spray booths, mixing stations, and curing ovens.
• Interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, work instructions, and MIL-spec documents to guide manufacturing.
• Maintain detailed documentation for batch records, environmental logs, material traceability, and non-conforming rework.

What we're looking for

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of experience applying coatings in a production or research environment.
• Proficiency with HVLP and conventional spray equipment to control dry film thickness within tight tolerances.
• Experience with composite substrate surface preparation including hand abrasion, solvent wipe, and media blast.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, and MIL-spec documents.
• U.S. Citizenship required with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
• Physical ability to wear full-face respirators and chemical suits while working in confined spaces or elevated platforms.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time.
