What you'll do

  • Develop custom backend services using Go, Python, and Java Spring Boot to power the observability platform.
  • Lead the enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry standards, including client libraries and instrumentation patterns.
  • Design and operate high-throughput, fault-tolerant telemetry pipelines for logs, metrics, and traces at scale.
  • Build self-service capabilities to simplify onboarding and troubleshooting for internal application teams.
  • Implement end-to-end monitoring for the observability platform itself, including SLIs, SLOs, and automated alerting.
  • Automate operational workflows and eliminate manual toil through CI/CD enhancements and custom tooling.
  • Ensure secure telemetry pipelines using mTLS, secret management, and zero-trust design patterns.
  • Provide technical leadership through architectural guidance, design reviews, and mentoring of other engineers.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma plus 4 years relevant experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience with observability practices, including SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, and incident management.
  • 3+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
  • 3+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry, including OTLP, semantic conventions, and instrumentation patterns.
  • 3+ years with cloud-native and containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD) and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • 2+ years designing and scaling distributed, high-volume data pipelines; 2+ years with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • 2+ years working with Grafana OSS or comparable backends, and 2+ years with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience with service meshes (Envoy, Istio), commercial observability platforms, and streaming data platforms like Kafka (preferred).
  • Experience with NoSQL/analytical databases, cost optimization, chaos engineering, and operating in regulated environments (preferred).
