The Senior Lead Software Engineer - Database Engineer joins the Consumer Banking Technology team to enhance and deliver secure, scalable technology products. This role serves as a subject matter expert, providing direct support to development teams during database modernization, optimization, and performance tuning activities. You will design and develop tools to accelerate modernization, influence product design, and drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code quality and incident analysis. Key responsibilities include performing database upgrades, migrations, and proactive reviews for resiliency and cost optimization. Required skills include 5+ years of experience, proficiency in programming languages and frameworks like Tigergraph, Oracle, Sql Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB, and Mongo DB, and expertise in DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud-native environments within the financial services industry.
Provide direct support and subject matter expertise for development teams performing database modernization activities.
Develop, execute, and support database modernization, optimization, performance tuning, and design activities.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Analyze, migrate, and provide post-migration support for application development teams' database footprints.
Partner with PaaS, DBaaS, and Cloud Delivery teams to resolve issues and implement self-service capabilities.
Participate in tactical and strategic database modernization planning and the development of modernization patterns.
Support application development teams in database design activities and resolve production database issues.
Perform proactive reviews of database implementations to enhance performance, efficiency, resiliency, and cost optimization.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience in database system design, development, performance testing, and ensuring operational stability.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks such as Tigergraph, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB, or MongoDB.
Experience supporting databases in DevOps environments using automation and continuous delivery methods.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools and understanding responsible AI use in engineering workflows.
Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes in disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle and advanced understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
Ability to perform database upgrades and migrations independently with little to no oversight.
Practical cloud native experience (preferred).
Direct experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (preferred).
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems (preferred).
