As a Senior Lead Software Engineer - Database Engineer within the Consumer Banking Technology team, you will join an agile team focused on building and delivering secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You will serve as a subject matter expert to support development teams through database modernization, optimization, performance tuning, and design activities. Your role involves influencing project decisions regarding leading-edge technologies, developing tools to accelerate modernization efforts, and partnering with PaaS and Cloud Delivery teams to implement self-service capabilities. You will drive the adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices for code review and testing while ensuring secure coding standards. Required skills include experience in SQL and NoSQL databases like Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB, or MongoDB. You must possess expertise in CI/CD, automation, and software development life cycle processes to resolve complex production issues.
Provide technical expertise and direct support for development teams performing database modernization activities.
Advise project decision-makers on the selection and application of leading-edge database technologies based on business requirements.
Execute database optimization, performance tuning, and design activities in collaboration with application development teams.
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
Develop tools and patterns to accelerate database migration efforts and automate software development lifecycle tasks.
Partner with cloud and platform teams to resolve issues and implement self-service capabilities for developers.
Lead the analysis, migration, and post-migration support for application development team database footprints.
Troubleshoot and resolve production database issues while contributing to root cause analysis and problem management workstreams.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Hands-on practical experience in database system design, development, performance testing, and ensuring operational stability.
Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages and frameworks such as Tigergraph, Oracle, SQL Server, Aurora Postgres, CockroachDB, or MongoDB.
Experience supporting databases in DevOps environments with proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.
Demonstrated experience leading the use of approved AI-assisted software development tools while ensuring security and quality standards.
Advanced knowledge of technical processes within disciplines such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile.
Proficiency in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle and advanced understanding of agile methodologies like CI/CD and application resiliency.
Ability to perform database upgrades and migrations independently with little to no oversight.
Practical cloud native experience (preferred).
Direct experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (preferred).
In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems (preferred).
