As a Senior HW Dev Engineer-Payload, Leo PAA Hardware, you will join the payload team to design and develop advanced phased array antenna systems for satellite communications. You will own the entire lifecycle of PCBA development from concept through production, including designing high-speed digital circuitry, managing schematic capture, and optimizing PCB stack-up for performance and cost. Your daily responsibilities involve collaborating with cross-functional teams like silicon, power, and RF to drive product definition, while also leading vendor engagement for DFM reviews and creating test plans for board bring-up. You will utilize skills in multi-gigabit SERDES, signal integrity, and hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes and logic analyzers. The role focuses on solving complex engineering challenges to ensure satellite systems meet rigorous performance, environmental, and reliability requirements within the orbital communications domain.
Own PCBA development from initial concept through final production.
Design and optimize electronic sub-systems and high-speed digital circuitry.
Lead schematic capture, PCB layout, and stack-up optimization for performance and cost.
Manage PCB vendor engagement to conduct DFM reviews.
Develop test plans and procedures based on high-level requirement definitions.
Perform board bring-up and execute test campaigns for various modules and subsystems.
Design automated test systems, fixtures, and factory testing equipment.
Support the transition of hardware designs into full production.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree or above in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
Experience in system-level architecture and board-level design.
Experience in motherboard design, PCB design including schematic capture, stackup, and circuit board layout.
Experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, and signal integrity.
Experience in hardware lab equipment such as digital scopes, logic analyzers, and soldering tools.
Master's degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering (preferred); experience with interdisciplinary teams, project management, analog fundamentals, power supply design, and prototype debugging (preferred).
