As a Senior Harness Engineer on the Omen team, you will provide essential engineering expertise to design, fabricate, and integrate harness systems for an autonomous air vehicle. You will manage the full lifecycle of the harness discipline, including researching and procuring connectors, back-shells, wire, and shielding while collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers to develop block diagrams and wire diagrams for production. Your daily work involves performing trade studies for wire gauge and topology, mitigating risks like crosstalk and EMI susceptibility, and preparing assembly instructions. You will utilize skills in 3D CAD routing, knowledge of MIL-STD requirements, and familiarity with interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, RS422, and RS232. This role solves critical integration challenges for a runway-independent tail-sitter aircraft designed to operate in demanding defense and civilian environments while meeting strict SWaP and environmental standards.
Design, fabricate, and integrate harness systems for autonomous aircraft projects.
Research and procure connectors, back-shells, wire, and shielding to meet environmental requirements.
Develop harness system block diagrams and wire diagrams for production release.
Conduct electrical trade studies for wire gauge, shielding, connector selection, and topology.
Analyze and mitigate risks such as voltage drop, crosstalk, EMI susceptibility, and thermal effects.
Create assembly instructions and test procedures based on industry standards and best practices.
Ensure designs meet system-level requirements for voltage, current, bandwidth, redundancy, and EMI/EMC.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
5+ years hands-on experience designing electrical harnessing for rugged commercial, industrial, aerospace, or military applications.
Experience working directly with harness manufacturers to deliver high quality, high reliability products.
Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces such as CAN, Ethernet, RS422, RS232, and 1553.
Knowledge of applicable harness standards and MIL-STD requirements.
Ability to apply knowledge of SWaP for power, network, and communications systems and designs.
Experience reading wire block interconnect diagrams and wire diagrams.
Proficiency in 3D CAD wire harness routing (NX, Siemens Capital, CATIA, CREO) (preferred); experience with high voltage (800V) or aviation standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, DO-160) (preferred).
