Senior Mechatronics Engineer

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end integration of EO/IR, RF, and imaging sensors, gimbals, and rangefinders.
• Drive mission system selection through trade studies balancing performance, SWaP, thermal, and latency.
• Characterize sensor noise, latency, bias, drift, and failure modes in bench and flight environments.
• Define payload interface controls including mechanical mounting, power/signal definitions, and vehicle bus integration.
• Write production software and firmware for drivers, sensor processing, and stabilization control loops.
• Execute ground and flight test campaigns to validate payload performance and aircraft integration.
• Lead root-cause investigations for payload and pointing anomalies across mechanical, electrical, and software boundaries.
• Update ICDs, calibration procedures, and production assembly documentation based on lessons learned.

What we're looking for

• Strong engineering background in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, Computer Science, or Physics.
• 4+ years of hands-on electromechanical and sensor integration experience in robotics, aerospace, or similar.
• 3+ years of C++ (or Rust) in a Linux environment with Python tooling and experience developing software for hardware.
• Proficiency in robotics stack, low-level communications (Ethernet, CAN, UART, SPI, I2C), real-time systems, and motor control.
• Experience with sensor characterization, calibration, and coordinate frame management for cameras, IMUs, encoders, GNSS, or LIDAR.
• Experience building hardware test rigs using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and test automation.
• Ability to read schematics, support board bring-up, and define harnesses with familiarity in CAD software.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
