Lead Engineer, Observability Platform

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate core observability platform services using Go, Python, or Java.
• Lead enterprise-wide adoption of OpenTelemetry standards, including client libraries and instrumentation patterns.
• Architect and scale high-throughput, fault-tolerant telemetry pipelines for logs, metrics, and traces across multiple clouds.
• Develop self-service observability features to simplify onboarding and troubleshooting for application teams.
• Implement end-to-end monitoring for the observability platform, defining SLOs, health checks, and alerting.
• Automate operational workflows and eliminate manual toil through CI/CD enhancements and tooling.
• Ensure secure telemetry pipelines using mTLS, secrets management, and zero-trust design patterns.
• Provide technical leadership through mentorship, design reviews, and architectural guidance for the engineering team.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience with observability practices, including SLIs/SLOs/SLAs, alerting, and incident management.
• 5+ years building production-grade backend services in Go and/or Java.
• 5+ years implementing and operating OpenTelemetry, including OTLP, semantic conventions, and instrumentation patterns.
• 5+ years with cloud-native and containerized platforms (Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD) and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• 3+ years designing and scaling distributed, high-volume data pipelines.
• 3+ years of experience with Helmcharts, Kustomize, Grafana OSS, and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
