The Senior Director, Software Engineering: Colony leads a multidisciplinary team of engineers, data scientists, and program managers within the AI & Data organization. This leader defines the engineering and platform strategy for Code Puppy, a foundational AI builder platform designed to help global associates develop and deploy AI-driven applications safely and cost-effectively. Key responsibilities include establishing architectural standards for distributed systems, AI pipelines, and agent-based workflows while ensuring enterprise-grade reliability, security, and compliance. The role requires expertise in cloud-native architecture, AI/ML productionization, and responsible AI governance. You will manage platform strategy, oversee design reviews, and drive operational excellence through DevOps maturity and observability. This position solves the complex challenge of providing a scalable, secure, and standardized internal ecosystem for enterprise-wide AI innovation and developer tooling.
Define and execute the long-term vision and roadmap for the Code Puppy AI builder platform.
Establish architectural standards for distributed systems, AI pipelines, and agent-based workflows.
Embed guardrails, governance, and human-in-the-loop patterns into platform designs to ensure responsible AI.
Define reliability targets, SLOs, and operational KPIs for mission-critical internal platforms.
Elevate DevOps maturity, release management, observability, and cost optimization across the organization.
Build and develop a high-performing team of engineers, data scientists, and program managers.
Translate complex AI and platform trade-offs into clear business outcomes for executive leadership.
Drive global adoption of AI-powered solutions through partnerships with product and data teams.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 7 years of software engineering experience.
Alternatively, must have 9 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
Must have 4 years of supervisory experience.
Must have 12+ years of progressive engineering leadership experience, including leading platform or AI-enabled product organizations.
Must have proven experience leading senior individual contributors, specifically Principal and Distinguished-level engineers.
Must have deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and AI/ML productionization.
Must have experience building internal platforms or developer ecosystems at enterprise scale.
Must have demonstrated success embedding responsible AI and governance frameworks.
Must have strong executive presence with the ability to influence at VP and SVP levels.
Must have a passion for building diverse teams and developing next-generation technology leaders.
Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 5 years of experience (preferred).
Knowledge of implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards and assistive technologies (preferred).
