TL;DR · Senior Director, Operations Technology

The Senior Director, Operations Technology joins the Engineering, Insurance, and Business Operations Leadership Team to lead a multi-year modernization of insurance platforms and data ecosystems. This leader will shape the end-to-end operations technology strategy, overseeing platforms and processes for claims, customer service, case management, and call center capabilities. Key responsibilities include migrating legacy environments to cloud-ready, API-enabled modular platforms, digitizing invoices, and expanding automation for straight-through processing. The role requires expertise in Azure/AWS cloud platforms, containers, microservices, event-driven architecture, DevSecOps/CI/CD, and observability. The position solves the technical challenge of transitioning fragmented systems into governed, scalable data and analytics capabilities to improve operational insight and business performance within a highly regulated insurance and aging care services domain.

What you'll do

  • Set and own the operations technology vision, architecture, and investment roadmap for claims, customer service, and call center platforms.
  • Advance modern engineering practices including microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms, and DevSecOps.
  • Lead the migration of legacy, fragmented platforms to governed, cloud-based data and analytics capabilities.
  • Build and scale a high-performing engineering organization by attracting, mentoring, and developing the next generation of technology leaders.
  • Digitize business operations to improve customer experiences and streamline documentation for invoices and claims.
  • Expand automation and straight-through processing to reduce manual effort, cycle times, and unit costs.
  • Serve as the primary technology partner to Operations to translate business priorities into executable roadmaps and measurable outcomes.
  • Align technology investments with enterprise data, architecture, cybersecurity, and engineering standards.

What we're looking for

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, platform development, or enterprise technology leadership in insurance or financial services.
  • Proven track record of modernizing complex, mission-critical platforms and leading large-scale cloud migrations and legacy-to-modern transitions.
  • Broad technical expertise in applications, data, infrastructure, cloud platforms, security, and modern software engineering practices.
  • Experience managing large technology budgets, capital planning, and vendor relationships with disciplined financial stewardship.
  • Proven ability to build, lead, and develop large, multidisciplinary technology organizations focused on talent development and high performance.
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate complex technology environments into business-aligned roadmaps.
  • Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time.
  • MBA or advanced degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field (preferred).
