Senior Developer, Research and Development

What you'll do

• Design and develop server-side plugins, integrations, and workflows on LIMS/ELN platforms using Java and Python.
• Architect and build AI-powered solutions including LLM agents, RAG pipelines, and prompt-engineered workflows.
• Develop data pipelines and integrations between scientific instruments, LIMS/ELN systems, and enterprise data platforms.
• Serve as technical lead by defining technical approaches, conducting code reviews, and mentoring other developers.
• Translate scientific requirements from stakeholders into scalable technical solutions and system architectures.
• Design and develop REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware to ensure interoperability across R&PD systems.
• Evaluate and implement COTS platform capabilities to enhance out-of-the-box functionality before custom development.
• Ensure all developed solutions meet GxP compliance requirements where applicable.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• 2+ years of work experience in software development supporting life sciences R&D or laboratory informatics.
• Proficiency in Java for server-side development and plugin architectures.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, data pipelines, webhooks, and automation.
• Experience with at least one LIMS or ELN platform such as Sapio, Benchling, or Dotmatics.
• Experience with Sapio LIMS/ELN server-side plugins, workflows, and data model configuration (preferred).
• Proven experience building LLM-powered agents, prompt engineering, RAG, or AI-assisted workflow automation.
• Experience with AI agent frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex (preferred).
