As a Senior Avionics Maintenance Engineer on the Test and Evaluation team, you will support developmental flight test operations for innovative products. You will be responsible for aircraft mechanical assessment, maintenance coordination, and reporting on all facets of aircraft readiness to the test program. Your daily work involves servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and inspecting aircraft avionics and ground support equipment while performing scheduled maintenance and functional checks on electrical systems and subsystems. You will modify and install electronics, fabricate and upgrade harnesses, and manage software configurations for both aircraft and ground segments. Key technical requirements include experience with flight test instrumentation like strain gauges and sensors, as well as proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings. The role addresses the challenge of ensuring mission readiness through rigorous testing, including sub-component qualification and full system development testing for advanced defense technologies.
Service, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircraft avionics and ground support equipment for test operations.
Modify, install, and test electronics and mechanical components as part of development efforts.
Resolve discrepancies by removing or replacing defective avionics, electrical systems, payloads, and subsystems.
Fabricate and modify aircraft harnesses, coax cables, and fiber optic wiring with limited engineering guidance.
Load and maintain software configurations on both aircraft and ground segment systems.
Perform ground operations including launch, recovery, and engine run-ups for prototype aircraft.
Conduct preflight maintenance and perform functional checks on flight control, fuel, and propulsion systems.
Document all aircraft maintenance actions and communicate avionics assessments to engineering and manufacturing teams.
What we're looking for
Active TS Clearance (investigation within 5 years or continuous evaluation).
8 years or more of aircraft avionics experience.
5 years or more of developmental flight test experience.
Extensive experience in installing, troubleshooting, and checking out flight test instrumentation systems including strain gauges and sensors.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and draft procedures to translate technical specifications into practical applications.
Proficiency in electronics troubleshooting, repair, and fabrication of aircraft harnesses and fiber optic cables.
Experience with software loads, regressions, and maintaining ground segment mission planning systems.
Preferred qualifications include 5 years of Test and Evaluation experience, 5 years of Field Support Representative experience, a valid FCC license, or ICP-A 620 certification.
