The Senior AI Software Engineer joins a growing team to develop software applications based on complex business requirements while influencing department strategy. The engineer will also implement evaluation frameworks for model accuracy and safety, build backend services using Python or TypeScript to expose capabilities via REST, GraphQL, and WebSockets, and contribute to MLOps infrastructure. Key technologies include LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, PyTorch, scikit-learn, and vector databases like Pinecone or Weaviate. The position requires ensuring all systems meet HIPAA standards for handling protected health information. The work focuses on solving technical challenges in a greenfield environment involving clinical data, EHR systems, and the development of robust AI agent architectures.
Build and maintain LLM-powered features including RAG systems, prompt pipelines, and workflow automation.
Develop Python or TypeScript backend services to expose AI capabilities via REST, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
Implement evaluation frameworks to measure the accuracy, safety, and reliability of production AI outputs.
Design and manage MLOps infrastructure, deployment automation, and operational tooling for scaling teams.
Ensure all software systems and data handling processes comply with HIPAA standards for protected health information.
Lead technical architecture discussions, code reviews, and the establishment of engineering standards.
Resolve complex software issues by researching complaints and making necessary technical adjustments or recommendations.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of software engineering experience with 2+ years building production AI/ML systems.
Proficiency in Python and TypeScript along with ML libraries like Hugging Face, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex and RAG pipeline design with vector databases.
Experience building REST or GraphQL APIs to serve AI/ML model outputs.
Ability to develop custom LLM and agent evaluations including automated testing of model outputs and failure modes.
Awareness of HIPAA requirements and secure handling of sensitive health data.
Experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses (preferred); experience with fine-tuning foundation models or multi-agent architectures (preferred).
