As a Senior Actuation and Control Engineer within the Maritime Division, you will own the actuation and control hardware design for a maritime autonomous vehicle. You will also define actuator interfaces with GN&C control software and support prototype builds, bench testing, and at-sea validation. The role requires expertise in mechanical engineering or mechatronics, specifically regarding marine equipment and underwater vehicle control mechanisms. This position addresses the technical challenge of developing robust hardware capable of operating reliably in demanding subsea environments for maritime missions.

What you'll do

Own the mechanical design for actuation and control surfaces on maritime autonomous vehicles.
Select, size, and qualify actuators specifically for subsea operations.
Design complex control surface mechanisms and linkages to enable vehicle maneuvering.
Define actuator interfaces with GN&C control software systems.
Perform detailed mechanism kinematics and load analysis.
Design sealing and pressure compensation systems for subsea components.

Participate in DFM reviews and manage the transition to production.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in actuator design, mechanism design, or marine equipment.
Experience with actuator selection and sizing for electric, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with sealing and pressure-rated component design.
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred experience with subsea actuators or AUV/UUV control mechanisms.
Preferred knowledge of control surface design for underwater vehicles.
Preferred experience in defense, maritime robotics, or actuator testing and qualification.
