Product Owner - CMDB
The Product Owner - CMDB is an individual contributor role responsible for defining and executing the vision, roadmap, and strategy for the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database platform. Working closely with IT Operations, Engineering, Security, Asset Management, and Service Management teams, this person will manage configuration management processes to ensure accurate and actionable data for critical business functions. Daily responsibilities include gathering requirements, prioritizing enhancements, designing governance frameworks, and driving automated discovery and service mapping initiatives. The role requires expert knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB, Common Service Data Model (CSDM), ITIL practices, and infrastructure technologies like cloud platforms and virtualization. Key tasks involve improving data quality, developing performance metrics, and managing the lifecycle of configuration items to support incident, problem, change, risk, and security management processes within a complex enterprise environment.
Define and execute the vision, roadmap, and governance framework for the ServiceNow CMDB platform.
Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements and prioritize enhancements to maximize platform value.
Drive continuous improvement of Configuration Management practices focusing on data quality, accuracy, and adoption.
Design and maintain Configuration Management policies, standards, procedures, and controls.
Establish processes for CI lifecycle management, relationship mapping, service mapping, and data stewardship.
Execute plans to onboard applications, infrastructure, cloud resources, and technology assets into the CMDB.
Drive automated discovery and data integration initiatives using ServiceNow capabilities and supporting technologies.
Develop performance metrics, KPIs, and dashboards to measure platform effectiveness and reporting accuracy.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent relevant experience.
ITIL Foundation certification required.
5+ years of experience in Configuration Management, CMDB Administration, ServiceNow Administration, ITSM, ITAM, Product Ownership, or related disciplines.
3+ years of experience supporting, enhancing, or owning enterprise CMDB capabilities, governance initiatives, or ServiceNow platform functionality.
Expert knowledge of ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and the Common Service Data Model (CSDM).
Experience building, enhancing, or supporting enterprise CMDB programs within complex organizations.
Ability to travel 10%.
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), Application Developer (CAD), or Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications (preferred); advanced ITIL certifications (preferred).
