The Product Development Process Engineer joins the Product Development Process team within the Hardware Platform Organization to define, build, and roll out essential processes and tools for hardware engineering teams. This role involves establishing scalable workflows, managing a central engineering standards repository, and defining architecture for design review gates, qualification campaigns, and production readiness criteria. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional leadership to create standard operating procedures, draft user guides, and manage toolset iterations in partnership with the tools development team. Candidates should possess a degree in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering and experience with hardware product development, CAD, and PLM toolchains. The role addresses the challenge of creating consistent design, test, and entry/exit criteria across a diverse portfolio of advanced hardware systems while ensuring compliance with defense industry standards and requirements.
Define and maintain the architecture for hardware product development processes including design gates and production criteria.
Own and evolve the central engineering standards repository for design, analysis, and product maturity.
Partner with the tools team to build and iterate on a scalable PDP toolset.
Draft process workflows, user guides, and standard operating procedures for engineering teams.
Gather requirements from stakeholders to create actionable documentation and manage releases through the PDP tool.
Lead the rollout of new processes by coordinating training workshops and stakeholder alignment.
Establish feedback loops to monitor adoption and drive continuous improvement of development processes.
What we're looking for
B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
5+ years of industry experience as a Design Engineer, Development Engineer, Process Development Engineer, Product Manager, or similar role.
Hands-on mechanical or electrical design/development experience with a track record of bringing hardware products to market.
Experience working on advanced hardware systems with cross-functional engineering teams.
Knowledge of design and development toolchains such as CAD and PLM.
Familiarity with defense industry standards and compliance frameworks.
Must be a U.S. Person.
M.S. Degree in technical engineering field (preferred); ability to obtain/hold a U.S. Secret Clearance; experience designing custom tools, creating technical documentation, or PMP certification (preferred).
