The Principal/Sr Principal Cyber Systems Engineer joins the Mission Systems team as a Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) focused on developing solutions within multi-level security environments. This role involves providing technical guidance for high-quality product deliveries and flight test events while ensuring weapon system compliance with standards like CNSSI 1253, DoD 8570, and DoD 8510. The engineer will design cyber systems architecture, perform attack surface analysis, and manage requirements using tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or JIRA. Key responsibilities include overseeing technical teams in an Agile, DevSecOps environment to support Launch and Missile Defense systems. Required skills include expertise in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, and SysML modeling. The role addresses the critical challenge of securing complex aerospace vehicles and infrastructure while navigating multi-certification contexts including Cyber and Nuclear Surety requirements within a digital engineering framework.
Provide technical decisions and guidance to ensure high-quality product deliveries and flight test events meeting mission cyber requirements.
Design and propose cyber systems architecture changes with full traceability to specific requirements.
Ensure weapon system compliance with contractually obligated cybersecurity standards including CNSSI 1253, DoD 8570, and DoD 8510.
Perform cyber-attack surface analysis of system designs to identify risks and provide mitigation recommendations.
Participate in cybersecurity assessment activities, including reviewing plans, procedures, and penetration test execution.
Develop and document technical standard engineering processes and procedures as needed for the team.
Solve complex problems across disciplines within an Agile and DevSecOps environment.
Provide cyber implementation guidance and oversight across various technical teams to meet program objectives.
What we're looking for
U.S. Citizenship is required.
A current active Secret clearance is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
Must be able to obtain an IASAE II certification (CISSP preferred) within six months of hire.
Bachelor's degree with 5 years, Master's with 3 years, or PhD with 1 year of experience in related engineering fields for Principal level; 8 years, 6 years, or 4 years respectively for Sr. Principal level.
9 years of experience in cyber systems engineering related fields may be substituted for a degree at the Principal level; 14 years for the Sr. Principal level.
Experience applying Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to develop and model requirements.
Experience managing requirements or systems engineering artifacts using tools such as DOORS, Cameo, or JIRA.
