Principal Systems Engineer - Auxiliary and Training Product Line As a Principal Systems Engineer within the Auxiliary and Training product line, you will drive the technical direction and long-range planning for the Fleet Ballistic Missile Auxiliary and Training Systems portfolio. You will work across multiple programs to develop, maintain, and enhance simulation, test, training, and support systems for Ohio-class and future Columbia-class submarines. Your daily responsibilities include translating mission needs into integrated technical strategies, developing product roadmaps, performing trade studies, and conducting risk and opportunity analyses. You will manage complex requirements, evaluate architecture alternatives, and mentor engineering teams to resolve cross-product issues. The role requires expertise in systems engineering principles, model-based systems engineering, digital engineering, and product-line engineering methods. You will solve critical problems involving fire control capabilities, integrated hardware and software systems, and the integration of training tools within laboratory environments.

What you'll do

  • Develop and maintain long-range technical roadmaps for the Fleet Ballistic Missile Auxiliary and Training Systems portfolio.
  • Translate mission needs and business objectives into integrated technical strategies and architectures.
  • Identify common requirements and reuse opportunities across multiple systems to improve product-line efficiency.
  • Conduct trade studies, risk analyses, and cost/schedule estimates to evaluate technology and architecture alternatives.
  • Lead early concept development and proposal efforts for emerging demands that span multiple programs.
  • Review engineering products and technical architectures to resolve cross-product issues and ensure system health.
  • Mentor engineers and technical leads while strengthening systems engineering practices across the product line.
  • Communicate complex technical decisions, risks, and recommendations to internal stakeholders and customers.

What we're looking for

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • A Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related field and 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree and 6 years of experience.
  • Experience leading systems engineering for complex products across the full development life cycle (preferred).
  • Experience developing product strategies, capability roadmaps, or investment plans across multiple systems (preferred).
  • Experience translating mission needs into architectures, requirements, and technical plans (preferred).
  • Experience with defense systems, simulation systems, training systems, or integrated hardware and software systems (preferred).
  • Experience with requirements management, model-based systems engineering, or digital engineering (preferred).
