JOB TITLE: Principal / Sr. Principal Systems Administrator (AHT) The Central Region Software Engineering organization within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal or Sr. Principal Systems Administrator to support complex, mission-critical environments. In this role, you will perform day-to-day Windows and Linux system administration, including installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. You will execute operating system patching across multiple enclaves and drive automation using BASH and Python. Key responsibilities include managing VMware-based virtualization and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions to ensure high availability for classified workloads. You will collaborate with cybersecurity and engineering teams to maintain a resilient, compliant infrastructure. This position requires expertise in systems engineering and cyber defense to solve technical problems and improve reliability for space and defense missions within highly regulated, classified environments.

What you'll do

Perform day-to-day Windows and Linux system administration including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Execute operating system patching and updates across multiple enclaves to ensure cybersecurity compliance.
Develop and maintain BASH and Python scripts to automate system management and reporting tasks.
Configure and optimize VMware-based virtualization environments and resource pools.
Administer Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments including performance tuning and user support.
Diagnose complex technical issues and document system changes in collaboration with cybersecurity teams.

What we're looking for

Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI approval.
Must have an active U.S. Government CI Polygraph at time of application.
Must have a current Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
For Principal level, require a Bachelor’s degree in science with experience, with a Master’s, or total experience.
For Sr. Principal level, require a Bachelor’s degree in science with experience, with a Master’s, with a PhD, or total experience.
Experience with Windows and Linux system administration, OS patching, and VMware virtualization is required.
Experience with BASH and Python scripting, VDI solutions, and Atlassian tools is required or preferred.
