Principal Linux Systems Administrator / Senior Principal Linux Systems Administrator

What you'll do

• Administer, monitor, and maintain Linux-based systems in lab and development environments.
• Load, customize, and harden Linux development workstations and servers to meet security requirements.
• Troubleshoot and repair hardware problems by diagnosing faulty components and coordinating replacements.
• Respond to high-priority incidents to diagnose root causes across OS, network, and hardware layers.
• Support software developers with build environments, development workflows, and OS-related issues.
• Document system configurations, procedures, and changes for lab infrastructure inventories.
• Perform OS-level package management, build custom RPMs, and handle kernel/driver interactions.
• Use shell scripting to automate system configuration and maintenance tasks.

What we're looking for

• Must hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline with 5 years of OOL experience (Principal) or 8 years (Senior Principal).
• Master's degree with 3 years of OOL experience (Principal) or 6 years (Senior Principal).
• PhD with 0 years of OOL experience (Principal) or 3 years (Senior Principal).
• 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree (Principal) or 12 years (Senior Principal).
• Strong understanding of Linux system administration, including Red Hat or similar enterprise distributions.
• Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux operating systems, software, servers, and lab hardware.
• Experience with OS level package management, building custom RPMs, kernel/driver interactions, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with shell scripting for system configuration, automation, and maintenance tasks.
• Familiarity with virtualization platforms like VMware (preferred).
• Experience supporting backup and restore solutions (preferred).
• Experience with vulnerability scanning, security compliance, and antivirus tools (preferred).
• Experience supporting build and deployment environments (preferred).
