Principal Software Engineers (Commerce Platforms) will join the Commerce Platforms organization to provide technical leadership for scalable, cloud-native applications and distributed services. The role involves implementing Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation, and agentic workflows to improve customer experiences and operational reliability. You will also architect reusable data processing frameworks and models to support large-scale analytical requirements, ensuring high standards for security, scalability, and performance across the commerce and financial platform domain.

What you'll do

Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of scalable cloud-native applications and distributed services.
Define technical strategies for systems spanning APIs, workflow orchestration, data analytics, and AI capabilities.
Develop end-to-end technical solutions using C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, and Azure services.
Architect reusable data processing frameworks, data models, and contracts for large-scale analytical requirements.
Build intelligent experiences using Generative AI, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and AI agents.
Translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical roadmaps and execution plans.
Drive platform modernization to improve scalability, security, observability, and developer productivity.
Mentor senior engineers and lead design reviews to raise overall organizational engineering standards.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field.
6+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages including Scala, Python, C#, or Java.
Ability to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.
Experience with cloud-native data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or Azure Data Lake (preferred).
Experience with modern web technologies, including intuitive interfaces and reusable backend capabilities (preferred).
Experience with Azure DevOps, including source control, build and release pipelines, and CI/CD practices (preferred).
Experience with software engineering fundamentals, including design, coding, testing, debugging, code reviews, and production support (preferred).
Experience building LLM-enabled applications, RAG solutions, AI agents, or agentic workflows (preferred).
