As a Principal SOC Power Architect within the SOC Architecture team, you will guide SoCs from early concept stages through design execution and post-silicon phases. You will utilize skills in semiconductor power architecture, power delivery, signal integrity analysis, and droop management. The role requires proficiency in C/C++, automation scripting, and Excel. You will solve critical problems regarding performance-per-watt optimization and workload classification across hardware, firmware, and operating systems to meet aggressive power targets for the product roadmap.

What you'll do

  • Define the power roadmap and competitive targets based on industry standards and workload analysis.
  • Identify high-value opportunities in IP, subsystems, and SoCs to improve performance per watt and battery life.
  • Coordinate with global teams to ensure power features are realized from concept through silicon attainment.
  • Model complex power use cases across the SoC roadmap and correlate estimates with pre-silicon and post-silicon data.
  • Create innovative power reduction initiatives and drive cross-organization alignment for implementation.
  • Establish frameworks for workload classification between hardware, firmware, and operating systems.
  • Lead modeling designs of experiments to drive improvements in voltage margining and feature ROI analysis.
  • Optimize PC use cases for both absolute power consumption and relative performance per watt.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Several years of relevant, commercial experience are required.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor power architecture and power delivery across on-die, substrate, silicon interposer, and PCB levels.
  • Experience with power integrity/signal integrity analysis, droop management, and capacitor performance.
  • Experience defining and analyzing workloads to optimize computing systems for performance and power efficiency.
  • Expertise in architecting new SoC power features and low power states to improve battery life.
  • Proficiency in power evaluation, modeling, simulation, and silicon attainment.
  • Ability to write detailed internal and customer-facing architecture specifications.
