Principal Mechanical Engineer

What you'll do

• Design and develop mechanical systems, components, enclosures, and packaging using advanced CAD tools like SolidWorks or ProE.
• Develop thermal cooling strategies and mechanical architectures for server generations from feasibility studies to production.
• Perform stress, strain, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate the structural integrity of materials and components.
• Conduct root cause and corrective action analysis to identify failure points and improve product reliability.
• Manage the transition of designs from prototype to mass production while ensuring manufacturability and cost constraints.
• Execute thermal management simulations using CFD tools like FloTHERM or Icepak to optimize cooling for electronic devices.
• Lead environmental testing, vibration testing, and qualification processes to ensure compliance with global regulatory standards.
• Manage project timelines, documentation, and cross-functional coordination to ensure successful delivery of engineering goals.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience with complex electro-mechanical products like servers, storage, or networking infrastructure.
• Expert proficiency in CAD tools such as Creo/ProEngineer, SolidWorks, or NX for 3D modeling and production drawing release.
• Extensive experience designing sheet metal, machined parts, plastics, die-cast components, and integrated assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including stamping, machining, injection molding, and supplier qualification.
• Proven ability to lead tolerance strategy, GD&T, DFM/DFA, BOM creation, and engineering change processes.
• Experience leading prototype builds, mechanical validation, environmental testing, vibration testing, and thermal characterization.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams through complex trade-offs regarding manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
