Principal Infrastructure Engineer

What you'll do

• Serve as the principal technical lead for IBM Z, IBM Power, and enterprise storage architectures.
• Lead major infrastructure initiatives including platform upgrades, technology refreshes, migrations, and capacity planning.
• Engineer and manage IBM Z and IBM Power environments, including LPAR configuration and processor planning.
• Design and operate enterprise storage platforms like IBM DS8000, FlashSystem, and Dell Data Domain.
• Own SAN, FICON, and mainframe I/O engineering, including fabric design, zoning, and complex troubleshooting.
• Establish engineering standards, runbooks, and configuration baselines to ensure audit-ready infrastructure changes.
• Leverage automation and AI-assisted engineering to improve incident triage, change-risk management, and operational efficiency.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of hands-on enterprise infrastructure engineering experience with IBM Z, enterprise storage, and SAN environments.
• Deep expertise in IBM Z hardware and IBM DS8000 configuration, capacity, performance, and platform operations.
• Strong experience with SAN technologies including Brocade and Cisco directors, fabric architecture, zoning, and FICON connectivity.
• Hands-on experience with IOGEN/mainframe I/O configuration, disciplined change execution, and complex infrastructure dependency management.
• Experience with IBM FlashSystem, IBM Power Systems, and Dell Data Domain platform engineering and storage configuration.
• Strong knowledge of storage replication, networking, capacity management, data segmentation, and infrastructure resiliency.
• Proven principal-level technical leadership with skills in troubleshooting, communication, documentation, automation, and AI-assisted engineering.
• Vendor certifications or equivalent depth in IBM Z, IBM storage, SAN, or IBM Power (preferred).
