As a Lead Infrastructure Engineer - IBMi, you will join the Corporate Sector Infrastructure Platforms team to deliver infrastructure and performance excellence. You will apply technical expertise to design, develop, and troubleshoot solutions for projects of moderate complexity while driving workstreams to modernize organizational technology processes. Your daily responsibilities include managing IBMi hardware, networking, and storage systems, supporting disaster recovery exercises, and utilizing Site Reliability Engineering practices to automate manual operational work. You will use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation while ensuring all outputs meet strict security and auditability standards. Required skills include proficiency with IBMi Operating Systems, ROBOT, NDM, SFTP, SMTP, MQ v9, BRMS, Clustering, and VIOS. You must also navigate incident management processes and coordinate with external vendors for hardware replacements.
Execute creative solutions for the design, development, and technical troubleshooting of infrastructure projects.
Manage IBMi infrastructure using best practice methods for both software and hardware-driven technologies.
Use enterprise-authorized AI to accelerate infrastructure analysis and design documentation while ensuring data security.
Drive workstreams to architect and implement changes that modernize organizational technology processes.
Analyze upstream and downstream technical implications to advise on and implement mitigation actions.
Apply AI-assisted practices to automate delivery routines and identify recurring issues for remediation.
Coordinate with external vendors like IBM to manage hardware replacements and troubleshoot complex issues.
Support IBMi Disaster Recovery exercises and manage incident, problem, and change management processes.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on infrastructure engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Deep knowledge of infrastructure engineering areas such as hardware, networking, databases, storage, deployment, integration, automation, scaling, resilience, or performance.
Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to support infrastructure engineering workflows with strong validation habits and data sensitivity awareness.
Ability to review and validate AI-assisted recommendations to ensure outcomes align with resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
Understanding of infrastructure architecture surrounding IBMi hardware, including distributed servers, storage SAN, database, and application components.
Software knowledge of IBMi Operating Systems, ROBOT, NDM, SFTP, SMTP, MQ v9, BRMS, Clustering, and VIOS.
Knowledge of Site Reliability Engineering to design, code, test, and deliver software to automate manual operational work.
Working proficiency in Incident, Problem, and Change management processes, including troubleshooting priority incidents and facilitating post-mortems.
