TL;DR · Principal Enterprise AI/HPC GPU Systems Architect

The Principal Enterprise AI/HPC GPU Systems Architect joins the Datacenter System Architecture and Engineering team to develop products centered on Instinct GPUs. This role involves defining EPYC and Enterprise AI/HPC GPU product and system architectures by analyzing outside-in usage cases and mapping them across a broad spectrum of technologies to ensure a holistic, constrained system spanning Si, platform hardware, and software. The architect will collaborate with internal stakeholders and customers to define requirements for performance, power balance, and cost while researching next-generation datacenter compute designs. Key technical competencies include expertise in memory, I/O, signal integrity, power delivery, thermal management, and firmware. Candidates must possess a deep understanding of server industry standards such as DDR, PCIe, and SATA to solve complex problems within high-performance computing, server, and mega data center applications.

What you'll do

  • Define product and system architecture for Enterprise AI/HPC GPUs and EPYC processors.
  • Architect solutions using Instinct GPUs, accelerators, and network components for data center applications.
  • Analyze outside-in usage cases to map technical requirements across silicon, hardware, and software.
  • Collaborate with internal architects and external customers to define performance, power, and cost requirements.
  • Research and develop next-generation datacenter compute designs to improve system performance.
  • Influence the roadmap of future products by contributing to architecture and technology execution.
  • Resolve complex engineering problems related to memory, I/O, signal integrity, and power management.
  • Communicate technical results to leadership and partners to drive alignment on hardware solutions.

What we're looking for

  • Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Extensive experience in the field of engineering.
  • Expertise in server and GPU products across architecture, development, design, and production release.
  • Deep knowledge of memory, I/O, signal integrity, power delivery, thermal, and hardware management.
  • Detailed understanding of server industry standards such as DDR, PCIe, and SATA.
  • Proven track record of collaborating with technology companies to engineer products based on new SoCs, CPUs, and chipsets.
  • Ability to work across engineering disciplines and geographies to deliver results.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive tasks to completion as a self-starter.
