Principal Engineer, Autonomy Developer Productivity

What you'll do

• Contribute code, perform code reviews, and create technical designs to improve observability systems.
• Build tools to collect and act on observability signals from distributed cloud systems and on-vehicle sensors.
• Partner with software engineering teams to understand use-cases and guide them in using existing tools.
• Influence the technical roadmap by evaluating new technologies through Proof of Concepts.
• Drive software engineering best practices and create tooling to encourage these practices across the organization.
• Mentor and grow the technical skills of engineers on the team and across the organization.
• Balance the delivery of high-impact features with the management of technical debt.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience or a proven record of defining and executing technical strategy across multiple teams and executives.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Experience driving consensus on multi-functional efforts using influence without authority.
• Experience in designing and implementing large-scale systems.
• Considerable experience working with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in designing and developing sophisticated distributed systems using languages like Go, Python, Rust, C/C++, or NodeJS.
• Considerable experience with Unix/Linux, SSH, and networking fundamentals.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and collaborating on technical designs, documentation, and critical feedback.
• Experience working with GCP, AWS, or Azure (preferred).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, Docker, Istio, Terraform, Prometheus, Grafana, TSDBs, and observability pipelines (preferred).
• Skilled in defining and instrumenting SLIs and SLOs (preferred).
• Own or contribute to Open Source projects (preferred).
