What you'll do

  • Manage and grow a team of engineers, conducting performance reviews and supporting career development.
  • Define and execute the technical vision for the observability platform to provide actionable insights into complex systems.
  • Provide architectural oversight on instrumentation, logging, metrics, and tracing across GM’s AV software stack.
  • Ensure tools enable rapid detection, debugging, and resolution of system failures to minimize downtime.
  • Lead development of internal tools and data pipelines to collect, analyze, and visualize telemetry data at scale.
  • Manage relationships and costs associated with third-party observability software and platforms.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of leadership experience managing software or SRE teams.
  • Deep expertise in observability pillars: logs, metrics, and traces; familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry.
  • Strong background in designing distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and microservices.
  • Proficiency in Go, Python, Typescript, and knowledge of software development practices.
  • Experience with modern cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure) and technologies like CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
