JOB TITLE: Principal Data Scientist, AI Foundations The Principal Data Scientist, AI Foundations joins the Specialist Models Data Science team to build and ship scalable architecture and AI/ML solutions for a mobile app. You will partner with cross-functional teams to develop features for dynamic personalized experiences, digital assistant interactions, and content searches. You will build, train, evaluate, and validate machine learning and NLP models, specifically focusing on adapting and fine-tuning Large Language Models for customer-facing applications. Key technologies include Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, LangChain, Lightning, and VectorDBs. You will also utilize skills in training optimization, self-supervised learning, explainability, and RLHF to operationalize resilient production systems.

What you'll do

Build and ship scalable AI/ML solutions for the mobile app using the latest generative AI technologies.
Adapt and fine-tune Large Language Models (LLMs) for customer-facing applications and features.
Develop machine learning and NLP models through all phases of design, training, evaluation, and validation.
Partner with engineering teams to operationalize models in scalable and resilient production systems.
Leverage a tech stack including Pytorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, and VectorDBs to analyze large datasets.
Translate complex technical work into tangible business goals for non-technical stakeholders.
Research and evaluate emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and breakthrough improvements.

What we're looking for

Must have a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field plus 5 years of data analytics experience.
Must have a Master's degree in a quantitative field or an MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 3 years of data analytics experience.
Must have a PhD in a quantitative field.
Must have experience training language models or large computer vision models.
Must have expertise in one or more subdomains including training optimization, self-supervised learning, explainability, or RLHF.
Must have a track record of delivering models at scale for training data and inference volumes.
Must have experience delivering libraries, platforms, or solution-level code to existing products.
Preferred: Master’s or PhD in a STEM field.
Preferred: Experience working with AWS.
Preferred: At least 3 years of experience in Python, Scala, or R.
Preferred: At least 3 years of experience with machine learning.
Preferred: At least 3 years of experience with SQL.
