The Principal Data Center Construction Manager joins the OCI Hyperscale Data Center Delivery team to oversee field execution for hyperscale AI data center construction. This highly field-based role involves managing daily construction activities by coordinating with general contractors, subcontractors, and trade partners while monitoring progress, manpower, and workface readiness. The manager ensures that all construction activities align with project sequencing, safety standards, and turnover requirements for commissioning and startup. Key responsibilities include resolving site issues, tracking punch-list items, and providing accurate field reports. Required expertise includes experience in data center or mission-critical facility construction, as well as proficiency in reading technical drawings and managing complex schedules. The role utilizes tools such as Primavera P6, Oracle Primavera Cloud, MS Project, Power BI, Tableau, and Smartsheet to manage the delivery of electrical, mechanical, and civil infrastructure systems.
Manage daily construction activities for assigned buildings, systems, and trade scopes to ensure project alignment with schedules.
Coordinate directly with general contractors, subcontractors, foremen, and trade partners to drive field execution.
Monitor field progress, manpower productivity, workface readiness, and construction sequencing.
Resolve field issues, trade conflicts, congestion risks, and other execution constraints.
Enforce onsite safety expectations through a consistent and visible field presence.
Verify installation quality to ensure high standards and minimize rework.
Track punch-list items and manage turnover requirements for commissioning and startup.
Provide accurate daily reports regarding progress, issue logs, and milestone updates.
What we're looking for
Must have 5+ years of experience supporting construction execution on large-scale, complex projects.
Experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial construction, infrastructure, semiconductor, power, or other technical environments is required.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, look-ahead plans, and turnover documentation.
Knowledge of construction sequencing, field coordination, manpower tracking, productivity monitoring, and milestone execution.
Proven ability to identify field risks, resolve construction issues, and escalate effectively.
Strong understanding of safety expectations, quality standards, punch-list management, and turnover readiness.
Ability to work primarily onsite with approximately 85–95% field/site engagement.
