As a Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer on the Virtual Networking team within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, you will help build and operate massive scale, integrated cloud services in a multi-tenant environment. You will join a team bootstrapping a brand new service to develop innovative solutions from the ground up, focusing on high-availability and scalability in service-oriented architecture. Your daily work involves translating requirements into high-quality solutions as both a rock-solid coder and a distributed systems generalist capable of diving deep into low-level systems while designing broad system interactions. The role requires proficiency in C++ or Java, along with expertise in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and networking fundamentals. You will solve complex problems related to cloud networking and infrastructure-as-a-service, utilizing your knowledge of the CAP theorem, consensus, messaging, and high availability to support network-as-a-service offerings.

What you'll do

Develop high-quality solutions based on technical requirements for cloud services.
Build and operate large-scale, multi-tenant cloud infrastructure components.
Design and implement distributed system interactions focused on high availability and scalability.
Write production-level code using C++ or Java to solve complex engineering problems.
Manage the lifecycle of network infrastructure including planning, provisioning, and security.
Develop innovative solutions for new OCI services from the ground up.
Solve low-level systems issues across the entire technology stack.

What we're looking for

Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or related fields.
8+ years of experience with systems/application development.
5+ years of experience with distributed systems or network programming.
Proficiency in C++ or Java.
Proficiency with data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
Experience with distributed systems including CAP theorem, Consensus, messaging, and High Availability.
PhD degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields (preferred).
Experience in Cloud Networking, Infrastructure-as-a-Service, or building applications at cloud scale (preferred).
