As a Platform Security Engineer - Wallet Payments & Commerce, you will join the Wallet & Payments Security Solutions team to build the foundational security layer for the Apple Pay portfolio. You will design, build, and operate security application frameworks and solutions for a Kubernetes-based multi-cloud platform. Your daily responsibilities include developing internal libraries, tools, and processes that establish secure-by-default infrastructure patterns while maintaining developer velocity. You will perform threat modeling, lead incident resolutions, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to mitigate risks across Payments, Transit, Access, and Identity products. The role requires proficiency in Go, Kotlin/Java, and the Spring Framework, alongside expertise in Kubernetes security, identity protocols like OAuth2 and OIDC, and applied cryptography. You will also utilize LLM-based tooling and coding agents to develop secure infrastructure for complex multi-cloud environments.

What you'll do

Develop internal frameworks, libraries, and tools to make secure development the easiest path for engineers.
Design and implement security controls and automation for a Kubernetes-based multi-cloud platform.
Champion secure-by-default infrastructure patterns to ensure safe engineering practices without sacrificing developer velocity.
Partner with product teams to identify architectural risks and deliver pragmatic security mitigations.
Conduct threat modeling of new platform capabilities during early phases of development.
Lead the resolution of incidents affecting the developer platform and conduct post-incident reviews.
Utilize AI-forward tools and LLMs for development while ensuring the correctness of all shipped code.

What we're looking for

5+ years of experience in platform security, software engineering in infrastructure and application development, or a related security discipline.
Experience with Go, Kotlin/Java, and the Spring Framework.
Familiarity with current and emerging security architecture design for cloud environments.
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience/skills in application development and security.
Prior experience contributing to or driving a secure-by-default platform initiative across a large engineering organization (preferred).
Experience with Identity and Access management frameworks, including OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, SAML, mutual TLS, PKI, and cryptography (preferred).
Expertise in Kubernetes security, multi-cloud security controls, container hardening, and supply chain security (preferred).
