TL;DR · Pipe Fitter/Welder
As a Pipe Fitter/Welder, you will fabricate, fit, and install piping systems that transport liquids and gases through maritime structures at extreme pressures. You will interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and weld procedure specifications to measure, cut, bend, and fit pipe and tubing ranging from small-bore instrument lines to large-diameter piping. The role involves performing silver brazing and executing NAVSEA-qualified welds in all positions using GTAW, SMAW, or GMAW processes on materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper-nickel alloys. You will also perform hydrostatic, flood, and pneumatic testing while maintaining documentation for weld maps and material traceability. This position addresses the technical challenge of building durable systems designed to operate submerged under high pressure for decades, requiring strict adherence to NAVSEA, SUBSAFE, Level I, and SOC requirements within a maritime defense context.
Skills
What you'll do
- Interpret engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and weld procedure specifications to fabricate and install piping systems.
- Measure, cut, bevel, bend, and fit pipe and tubing for various fluid and gas systems.
- Perform high-quality welds in all positions using TIG, stick, or MIG processes on various alloys.
- Execute silver brazing on piping joints according to established procedures.
- Conduct hydrostatic, flood, and pneumatic testing while monitoring gauges and identifying leaks.
- Document all work including weld maps, joint logs, NDE records, and material traceability.
- Maintain compliance with NAVSEA, SUBSAFE, Level I, and SOC requirements for maritime systems.
What we're looking for
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of pipefitting, welding, or related mechanical trade experience.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, P&IDs, and weld procedure specifications.
- Proficiency in GTAW (TIG) welding on pipe in multiple positions.
- Experience with fit-up to tight tolerances on welded and brazed joints.
- Ability to pass weld qualification testing for applicable certifications.
- U.S. Person status as required by ITAR.
