PET Scientist
The PET Scientist joins the PET Physics team to advance next-generation imaging technologies through research, development, and innovation. This role involves supporting the technology roadmap by contributing to hardware innovations across detector systems, electronics, and acquisition units while developing software for data correction, image processing, and statistical reconstruction algorithms. The scientist performs experimental and analytical studies to improve system performance, manages intellectual property through patent activities, and publishes results in peer-reviewed journals. Key technical requirements include a PhD in a relevant field like Physics or Engineering, expertise in medical imaging physics, and proficiency in multiple programming languages, specifically C++. Candidates should possess skills in Monte Carlo simulation methodologies, iterative reconstruction techniques, and quantitative image analysis to solve complex problems in the domain of PET image formation and high-quality, accurate clinical imaging.
Support the technology and innovation roadmap for the PET Physics and Reconstruction team.
Contribute to hardware innovation across detector systems, electronics, and overall PET system design.
Develop and optimize software for data correction, image processing, and reconstruction algorithms.
Conduct R&D activities related to image formation, quantitative imaging, and system performance.
Perform simulation, experimental, and analytical studies to evaluate and improve imaging quality.
Design, execute, and analyze laboratory and system-level experiments.
Publish scientific results in peer-reviewed journals, technical conferences, and industry presentations.
Contribute to intellectual property development through invention disclosures and patent activities.
What we're looking for
Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Medical Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Experience in medical imaging, preferably PET imaging.
Experience developing software using multiple programming languages, preferably including C++.
Research experience in areas such as PET Imaging, Image Reconstruction, Medical Imaging Physics, Radiation Physics, Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, or Computational Imaging.
Proficiency in Monte Carlo simulation tools for modeling and evaluating imaging systems.
Experience with detector physics, acquisition systems, or imaging instrumentation.
A record of publishing results in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at technical conferences.
