As a Payloads Lead on the Maneuver Dominance team, you will lead the mechanical design, analysis, and integration of payloads into large autonomous air vehicles. You will manage the full lifecycle of weapon systems on unmanned aircraft platforms, including developing program plans, system architecture designs, and requirements while troubleshooting conflicting development goals. Your daily work involves coordinating with customers and contractors, performing technical reviews, and supporting lab, ground, and flight test events. The role requires expertise in integrating weapons, payloads, or avionics onto aircraft, along with familiarity with MIL-STD-1553 and tactical datalinks. Technical skills include experience with C++, MATLAB, Python, and PERL scripting. You will solve complex engineering problems related to aerial robotic systems designed to operate in coordinated teams alongside ground maneuver forces within a specialized defense technology context.
What you'll do
Lead the integration, verification, and validation of weapon systems on unmanned aircraft platforms.
Develop system architecture designs, perform system-level analysis, and generate technical requirements.
Create program plans, estimates, and schedules to manage project timelines.
Troubleshoot conflicting design and development requirements to resolve engineering problems.
Support lab, ground, and flight test events for payload and weapon systems.
Maintain Interface Control Documents, Software Requirement Specifications, and performance specifications.
Provide technical direction to design and engineering staff on complex projects.
Develop technical materials and proposals for internal reviews and customer engagements.
What we're looking for
Must have a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, or PhD in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
Must have experience with a Bachelor's, with a Master's, or with a PhD.
Experience is acceptable as a substitute for the required educational degrees.
Must have experience in software programming or embedded systems using C++, MATLAB, Python, or PERL scripting.
Must have experience integrating weapons, payloads, or avionics onto aircraft.
Must be familiar with Air-to-Air weapons, MIL-STD-1553, and logical Interface Control Documents.
Must have experience with weapon or tactical datalinks.
Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance.
