The Network Engineering/Operations Site Lead leads and mentors a team of engineers to manage and modernize enterprise IT systems for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining resilient network infrastructure while ensuring compliance with security directives like STIGs and IAVM. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPN solutions; overseeing Unified Communications via Cisco Call Manager; and implementing Zero Trust architecture using Cisco Identity Services Engine. The position requires expertise in TACLANE cryptographic encryptors, Agile VLANs, and network automation tools like Ansible. Technical skills include proficiency with BGP, OSPF, and Cisco Nexus platforms. The role addresses the critical challenge of securing data pipelines and infrastructure against emerging global threats while ensuring high-assurance connectivity and robust security for mission-critical systems.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of network engineers to ensure technical excellence and mission success.
Implement security directives including Cyber Task Orders, STIG compliance, and risk mitigation strategies.
Design, deploy, and maintain robust network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN solutions.
Manage Unified Communications systems such as Cisco Call Manager to ensure seamless voice and video collaboration.
Implement Network Access Control (NAC) using Cisco ISE to support Zero Trust architecture.
Configure and maintain TACLANE high-assurance cryptographic encryptors for secure communications.
Monitor network performance, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and implement optimizations for stability and throughput.
Create and maintain technical documentation including network diagrams, engineering plans, and standard operating procedures.
What we're looking for
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility is required at time of consideration.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field with 12–15 years experience, or a Master's with 10–13 years experience, or 12+ years of experience without a degree.
Relevant military service in a Senior Enlisted or Officer leadership capacity may be substituted for formal education requirements.
Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification (Security+ or higher) is required at time of consideration.
Proven track record of people leadership, including team supervision, performance mentoring, and resource administration.
Experience managing Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), technical reports, Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and program status reporting.
Advanced networking certifications such as Cisco CCNP or CCIE (preferred).
Experience with TACLANE cryptographic devices, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and network automation tools like Ansible (preferred).
