The Network Engineering/Operations Site Lead manages a team of approximately 14 network engineers supporting the Defense Threat Reduction Agency under the Integrated Information Technology Support Services contract. This people-leadership and operations-management role focuses on establishing priorities, developing personnel, and maintaining operational discipline rather than hands-on engineering. The Site Lead translates government requirements into executable plans, oversees enterprise routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, and unified communications, and ensures compliance with Zero Trust principles and STIG requirements. Key responsibilities include coaching team members, managing risk registers, and coordinating with stakeholders on network modernization and incident recovery. The role requires proficiency in managing Cyber Tasking Orders, IAVM requirements, and technologies like Cisco Nexus, Palo Alto firewalls, and high-assurance cryptographic devices to provide secure, resilient, and responsive information technology.
Lead and manage a team of 14 network engineers to support enterprise operations and cybersecurity compliance.
Set clear priorities, assign work, and manage competing demands to ensure appropriate staffing coverage.
Coach and mentor team members through regular feedback, performance management, and career development plans.
Translate government requirements and tasking orders into clear, executable plans for the engineering team.
Monitor operational metrics, project milestones, and risk registers to ensure network availability and security.
Serve as the primary leadership interface for government customers and program management regarding operational posture.
Oversee network designs and changes to ensure alignment with Zero Trust principles and security requirements.
Ensure the timely delivery of accurate technical documentation and Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) deliverables.
What we're looking for
Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at time of consideration.
Bachelor’s degree and 12–15 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree and 10–13 years of relevant experience.
12 or more years of relevant technical leadership, IT operations, network operations, military communications, cyber, or enterprise infrastructure experience in lieu of a degree.
Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, coaching, and developing technical personnel in an operational, enterprise IT, network operations, or cybersecurity environment.
Current DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification, such as Security+ or higher, at time of consideration.
Working knowledge of enterprise network concepts including routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, network monitoring, and cybersecurity compliance.
Experience managing team priorities, workload, staffing coverage, performance expectations, and customer commitments.
Experience supporting or managing technical reports, program status reporting, service-level agreements (SLAs), CDRLs, or similar customer deliverables.
