TL;DR · Network Engineering Architect, Director

The Network Engineering Architect, Director serves as a senior technical leader responsible for defining and executing the enterprise network architecture strategy across global on-premises and cloud environments. This role involves leading governance forums, establishing reference patterns, and designing robust infrastructure for data centers, campus networks, and WAN connectivity. You will drive the transition to "network-as-code" by implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing to ensure secure, auditable changes. Key technical requirements include expertise in IP networking fundamentals, Python, Bash scripting, and cloud-native networking like VPC/VNET design. You will also integrate AI-driven tools for network analytics and optimization while mentoring a global team of engineers. The role addresses the challenge of modernizing complex infrastructure into a developer-friendly platform within a highly regulated, security-focused financial services environment to ensure high performance and reliability.

What you'll do

  • Define and evolve the enterprise network architecture strategy and multi-year roadmap for global infrastructure.
  • Establish and enforce network standards, reference patterns, and design principles across data center, campus, WAN, and cloud domains.
  • Lead architecture governance forums to review designs for scalability, resilience, and compliance with risk controls.
  • Implement "network-as-code" by utilizing Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing for network changes.
  • Develop self-service networking capabilities including APIs and templates to allow application teams to deploy services safely.
  • Integrate AI-driven tools and machine learning analytics to optimize network performance and automate routine configurations.
  • Design identity-based network segmentation and policy frameworks to enhance security and intent-based traffic management.
  • Mentor a global team of engineers and architects while promoting best practices in design quality and documentation.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Network Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering and architecture roles for large-scale enterprise solutions.
  • Deep expertise in core networking concepts including routing protocols, switching, segmentation, load balancing, and observability.
  • Hands-on experience with network automation, Infrastructure as Code, scripting (Python, Bash), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proven ability to lead architecture governance, design reviews, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with hybrid and cloud-native networking including VPC/VNET design and container-based orchestration platforms.
  • Aptitude for emerging technologies like AI/ML applied to network operations and automated anomaly detection.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant technical field (preferred); experience in financial services or regulated industries (preferred).
