The Mission Systems Software Chief Architect joins the proprietary Mission Systems software team to support the Boeing Defense, Space & Security business organization. This role focuses on defining and integrating process and tooling paradigms to support critical architecture development and cadence software activities across all phases of the software development life-cycle. The architect will translate system-level requirements into software models, lead code reviews, manage integration and deployment of mitigation actions, and mentor junior engineers. Key responsibilities include overseeing supplier technical performance and ensuring alignment with industry standards for complex mission systems on aircraft platforms. Required skills include experience in full life-cycle development, modeling, simulation, and testing using C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada on Linux and Windows platforms. The role requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance to address technical challenges in a multi-program environment.
Define and integrate software process and tooling paradigms to support product architecture and execution flows.
Translate system-level requirements into detailed software requirements, models, and traceable artifacts.
Conduct software system-level analyses to identify risks and lead the implementation of mitigation actions.
Lead code reviews to ensure all software aligns with technical requirements and established standards.
Monitor and review test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems.
Evaluate internal team and supplier performance against project plans and industry standards.
Mentor and coach junior engineers in software development practices.
What we're looking for
Must possess an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP).
Must be a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 for export control compliance.
Bachelor's Degree required.
5+ years of experience with full life-cycle software development, modeling, simulation, testing, and/or analysis using various programming languages or Linux.
5+ years of experience developing, documenting, and maintaining architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software systems.
5+ years of experience with Software Development Processes.
U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
