As a Mission Integration Engineer, Mission Systems (Starshield), you will join the Mission Management team to tackle technical problems from initial requirements verification through rapid prototyping and operational deployment. You will work with internal teams across software, flight reliability, and payload integration to ensure successful mission completion for government-focused earth observation, communications, and hosted payloads. Your daily responsibilities include developing system specifications, interface control documentation, and ground segment architecture designs while serving as a customer interface during tests and reviews. The role requires expertise in satellite command and control, operational planning, data processing, and secure execution. Key skills include experience with spacecraft mission design, integration, and testing, alongside familiarity with USG intelligence processes and machine learning techniques. You will manage contract deliverables and translate complex requirements into actionable objectives to ensure end-to-end success for critical space programs.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary customer interface during meetings, tests, and reviews to develop operations plans and design missions.
  • Distill complex customer requirements into actionable development objectives and ensure all contract deliverables are completed on time.
  • Develop system specifications and interface control documentation for satellite command, control, and data processing.
  • Own the architecture design for the ground segment of the program.
  • Manage the full program lifecycle from initial proposal and prototyping through testing and on-orbit commissioning.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure end-to-end mission success across software, flight reliability, and payload integration.
  • Educate customers on SpaceX designs and methodologies throughout the development process.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline.
  • 1+ years of software engineering or electrical engineering experience working with hardware or software technical projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible for export control authorizations.
  • Experience in spacecraft mission design, development, integration, and/or testing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with USG intelligence processes and systems is preferred.
  • Experience integrating with genAI and traditional machine learning techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
