The role addresses the technical challenge of translating automation concepts into practical, buildable mechanical designs for manufacturing environments, ensuring high reliability and manufacturability while reducing manual intervention in complex production processes.

What you'll do

  • Design custom fixturing, tooling, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), and material handling systems using Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
  • Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings including GD&T for fabrication and procurement.
  • Integrate electro-mechanical components such as actuators, sensors, pneumatics, and motion systems into automation layouts.
  • Prototype, assemble, and test mechanical systems and sub-assemblies on the shop floor.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electro-mechanical issues during system integration and production ramp.
  • Collaborate with controls engineers to integrate mechanical systems with software and control layers.
  • Manage component sourcing, vendor relations, and documentation including BOMs and assembly instructions.
  • Perform design analysis including tolerance stack-ups, load calculations, and material selection for manufacturing.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • 4–8 years of experience in mechanical design and hands-on system integration.
  • Proficiency with Siemens NX and/or SolidWorks for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Experience designing and building custom fixturing, tooling, or automation equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical systems including actuators, sensors, linear motion, and pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and create engineering drawings using GD&T.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills in shop floor or lab environments.
  • Experience designing for cleanrooms, robotic integration (EOAT), or collaborating on PLC/controls concepts.
